Biography & Historical Record
Wei Jiao (韦峤, Vi Kiều) was an aristocratic scholar-official and administrative gentleman of the Cao Wei dynasty, hailing from the eminent Jingzhao Wei clan (京兆韦氏) of Duling. He was a prominent scion of the lineage of Inspector Wei Duan (韦端) and the celebrated martyr Wei Kang (韦康, Vi Khang — Inspector of Liangzhou who was tragically murdered by Ma Chao during the siege of Jicheng in 213 AD).
Following the horrific massacre of Wei Kang and his immediate household by Ma Chao, the extended Jingzhao Wei family in Guanzhong rallied under Cao Cao’s banner. As peace was restored to the northwest, Wei Jiao upheld the prestigious Confucian learning and legal traditions of his house. Serving as a commandery prefect and judicial officer in the western provinces, Wei Jiao was acclaimed for his deep classical erudition, benevolent civic policies, and dedication to reviving the devastated schools and academies of Longyou, restoring the honor and influence of the Wei family across Guanzhong.
