Zhu Gui, known by his nickname ‘Dry-Land Demon’ (Hạn Địa Hốt Luật), is a fictional character in the classic Chinese novel Water Margin. He is the 92nd member of the 108 Liangshan heroes and ranks among the 72 Earthly Fiends as the Earthly Prisoner Star (Địa Tù Tinh). Unlike the more aggressive warriors, Zhu Gui serves as the primary intelligence gatherer and ‘eyes and ears’ for the Liangshan rebels. He operates an inn at the foot of the Liangshan mountain, which acts as a front to intercept travelers, gather gossip, and recruit potential talent for the outlaw stronghold.

His role is primarily strategic; he manages the logistics of information flow that allows Song Jiang (宋江, Tống Giang) to anticipate the movements of imperial officials and rival factions. While not a frontline powerhouse, his ability to blend into civilian society makes him indispensable to the Liangshan intelligence network.
