Biography & Historical Record
Luo Jun (骆俊, Lạc Tuấn), courtesy name Xiaoyuan (孝远), was a heroic administrator, statesman, and loyalist of the late Eastern Han dynasty. Originating from Wushang (Wuxing) County in Kuaiji Commandery, he was celebrated for his imposing martial stature, profound literary learning, and compassionate governance.
Appointed as the Chancellor of Chen State (陈国相), Luo Jun formed a close and formidable partnership with Prince of Chen Liu Chong (刘宠). During the severe famines and ravages caused by the Yellow Turban rebels and warlord warfare, Luo Jun personally organized granaries, sheltered tens of thousands of starving refugees, and maintained an unassailable defensive force of crossbowmen that kept Chen State peaceful and prosperous.
When the warlord Yuan Shu suffered critical food shortages and demanded grain supplies from Chen State, Luo Jun sternly rebuked his extortion. Enraged by Luo Jun’s unwavering rectitude, Yuan Shu dispatched the assassin Zhang Kai (张闿) to feign friendship and treacherously murder Luo Jun and Prince Liu Chong in 197 AD. Luo Jun was the father of Luo Tong (骆统), who later rose to great prominence in Eastern Wu.
