Biography & Historical Record
Pei Xuan was a minor official in Jingzhao Prefecture known for his uncompromising integrity and strict adherence to the law, which earned him the nickname ‘Iron-faced Official’ (Tie Mian Kong Mu). Despite his diligence, he was falsely accused by corrupt superiors and exiled to Shamen Island. On his way, he passed through Yinma River, where Deng Fei (邓飞, Đặng Phi) and Meng Kang (孟康, Mạnh Khang) rescued him and persuaded him to stay, where he became their leader. Later, upon hearing of the righteous reputation of Chao Gai (晁盖, Tiều Cái) and Song Jiang (宋江, Tống Giang), Pei Xuan led his group to join the Liangshan Marsh outlaws.
