Biography & Historical Record
Ren Lan (任览, Nham Lãm) was a noble officer of Cao Wei during the Three Kingdoms period. Hailing from Zhongmu in Henan Commandery, he was the second son of Ren Jun (任峻), the esteemed administrator whose establishment of agricultural garrison colonies (tuntian) formed the economic bedrock of Cao Cao‘s rise to power.
Because Cao Cao held immense gratitude and personal affection for Ren Jun, he ensured that both of his surviving sons received substantial honors and titles. While elder brother Ren Xian inherited the primary marquisate of Chengxiang, Ren Lan was specially elevated to the dignity of Marquis of Guannei (关内侯), with independent lands and court standing in the central administration of Cao Wei.
