Biography & Historical Record
Sima Cui (司马粹, 司馬粹, Tư Mã Thôi; c. 250s–c. 280s AD) was an imperial prince of the Western Jin dynasty, endowed with the aristocratic title Prince of Jiyang (济阳王). He was the son of Grand General of Garrisoning the East and Prince of Langya Sima Zhou (司马伷), and his mother was Lady Zhuge (诸葛氏) (daughter of Zhuge Dan of Langya).
Sima Cui was born into the paramount ruling clan of the Jin dynasty, being a grandson of Grand Tutor Sima Yi. During the reign of Emperor Wu of Jin (Sima Yan), after the successful conquest of Eastern Wu in 280 AD, Sima Cui was ennobled as the Prince of Jiyang. However, he passed away at a relatively young age before the catastrophic upheavals of the War of the Eight Princes, leaving an honorable memorial in Jin historical records.
