Biography & Historical Record
Ren Xian (任先, Nham Tiên) was an official and peerage noble of Cao Wei during the Three Kingdoms era. Hailing from Zhongmu in Henan Commandery, he was the eldest son and primary heir of Ren Jun (任峻), the visionary Minister of Agriculture (Diannong Zhonglangjiang) who formulated and spearheaded Cao Cao‘s vital tuntian (state agricultural colony) system.
Growing up while his father organized vast agricultural districts in Xuchang and along the Huai River, Ren Xian gained deep insight into agrarian logistics, tax grain distribution, and military supply networks that sustained Cao Cao’s victories at Guandu and beyond. Upon Ren Jun’s untimely passing in 204 AD, Cao Cao wept bitterly and conferred the ancestral title of Marquis of Chengxiang (成乡侯) upon Ren Xian, who continued to uphold the dignity and estates of the Ren house.
