Empress Zhen (怀皇后甄氏, Hoài hoàng hậu; d. 251), was the beloved first empress of Emperor Fei of Wei, Cao Fang (Cao Fang), during the Three Kingdoms era. She was the granddaughter of Zhen Yan (甄俨), the elder brother of the legendary Lady Zhen (Empress Wenzhao, wife of Cao Pi and mother of Cao Rui).
Selected into the imperial palace to reinforce the sacred matrimonial bond between the imperial Cao house and the noble Zhen clan of Zhongshan, she was formally enthroned as Empress in 243. Revered for her gentle grace, filial piety toward Empress Dowager Guo, and quiet intelligence, Empress Zhen brought domestic tranquility to the young emperor’s court during the tense political rivalry between Cao Shuang and Sima Yi. Tragically, she fell ill and passed away in August 251, being entombed with supreme imperial honors in the Taiqing Mausoleum and posthumously named Empress Huai (怀皇后 — The Cherished Empress).
