Biography & Historical Record
Geng Zhong (耿忠, Cảnh Trọng) was a noble aristocrat, court official, and scion of the legendary Fufeng Geng clan (右扶风茂陵耿氏) during the early Eastern Han Dynasty. He was a son of Geng Yan (耿弇, Cảnh Yểm), the paramount founding general, Grand General of Jianwei, Marquis of Haoxi, and one of the immortal Yuntai 28 Generals (云台二十八将) who aided Emperor Guangwu of Han in reunifying China.
Reared within one of the most illustrious military houses of the empire, Geng Zhong was imbued with classical Confucian discipline and martial pride. He served in the imperial court in Luoyang alongside his brothers Geng Su (耿宿, Cảnh Tố) and the great frontier general Geng Bing (耿秉, Cảnh Bỉnh).
