Biography & Historical Record
He Biao (何彪, Hà Bưu) was a respected Confucian gentleman, gentry leader, and patriarch of the prominent Runan He clan (汝南何氏) during the latter half of the Eastern Han Dynasty. Originating from Xiping in Runan Commandery, an area celebrated for generating high-ranking ministers and moral commentators, He Biao was revered within his community for his dignified bearing, filial piety, and fidelity to ancestral precepts.
He Biao was the father of He Kui (何夔, Hà Quỳ), the renowned Cao Wei Grand Administrator, General Who Pacifies the Distant, and Marquis of Cheng’an who served as mentor to Emperor Cao Pi. Prior to He Kui’s rise, He Biao instilled in his household a strict code of moral self-restraint and intellectual excellence, warning his descendants against the perils of sycophancy and factions. Although He Biao passed away before the full unification of the Central Plains under Cao Cao, his lineage flourished directly from his exemplary parenting and ethical guidance.
