Hua Bo (华博, Hoa Bác; fl. mid-3rd century AD; courtesy name Changjun 长骏), native of Gaotang in Pingyuan, was a respected scholar and official of the Western Jin dynasty, eldest son of Minister of Ceremonies Hua Biao (华表) and grandson of Cao Wei Chancellor Hua Xin (华歆).
Raised in a household famed across northern China for severe Confucian ethics and literary austerity, Hua Bo demonstrated exceptional filial devotion and scholarly brilliance from his early youth. He was praised by his contemporaries for his gentle demeanor, deep understanding of ancient classics, and eloquence in political debate.
Hua Bo entered the Western Jin administration in the capital of Luoyang, serving with modesty and incorruptibility. Although his promising career was tragically cut short by premature illness, his moral character was cited by contemporary historians as an exemplar of the Pingyuan Hua family’s hereditary virtues, paving the way for his brother Hua Zhou and nephew Hua Jiao to rise to ministerial and historical prominence.
