Biography & Historical Record
Pan Mi (潘秘, Phan Bí) was a high-ranking imperial in-law, diplomat, and court nobleman of the Eastern Wu Dynasty. He was the second son of Grand Minister of Works Pan Jun (潘濬, Phan Tuấn — Marquis of Liuyang) and the younger brother of Cavalry Commandant Pan Zhu (潘翥).
Due to Pan Jun’s preeminent standing as one of the four cornerstone ministers of Eastern Wu and his unblemished loyalty to the throne, Sun Quan personally sought to bind the Pan clan to the imperial house through imperial marriage. Pan Mi was wed to a royal princess of the House of Sun (daughter of Sun Quan / royal imperial princess) and invested as Commandant-Consort (Fuma Duwei / 驸马都尉). In his official career, Pan Mi served in the imperial court at Jianye, managing diplomatic protocols, imperial clan relations, and civil administration with refined elegance and discretion, solidifying the enduring political alliance between the Jingzhou gentry and the imperial Wu dynasty.
