Yao Zhou, courtesy name Zixu, was a respected civil official serving the state of Shu Han during the turbulent Three Kingdoms period of China. Originating from Langzhong in Ba Commandery, he earned a reputation early in his career for exceptional integrity, personal frugality, and administrative talent.
Following the establishment of the Chancellor’s office, he was recruited by Zhuge Liang to serve as a Clerk. Diligent and perceptive, he demonstrated an innate ability to recognize and recommend virtuous talents to the imperial court. Zhuge Liang held him in extraordinarily high regard, openly praising his sincerity and uncorrupted dedication to public service. His career advanced steadily, eventually culminating in his appointment as Minister of the Imperial Household (Guanglu Xun).
