Biography & Historical Record
Ehe Shaoge (饿何烧戈, Ngạ Hà Thiêu Qua) was a chieftain of the Qiang people residing in the border regions of Liang Province during the late Eastern Han Dynasty. Historically, he is noted for his role as an ally of the warlord Ma Chao (马超, Mã Siêu). Following the collapse of Ma Chao’s resistance against the Cao Wei forces, Ehe Shaoge aligned with Ma Chao during his attempt to reclaim territory in the northwest. He participated in the uprising that temporarily captured Jicheng, acting as a tribal leader supporting Ma Chao’s insurgency against the authority of Cao Cao (曹操, Tào Tháo).
Role in Romance of the Three Kingdoms
Following the defeat of Ma Chao, he gathered the support of the Qiang tribes to continue his rebellion. Ehe Shaoge, along with fellow chieftain E’huo (饿何, Ngạ Hà), led his nomadic cavalry to aid Ma Chao in the siege of Jicheng. However, after the internal betrayal by local officials and the subsequent failure of the campaign, Ma Chao became increasingly erratic and cruel. Ma Chao eventually turned on his allies, executing Ehe Shaoge and E’huo to consolidate his remaining forces before fleeing to Hanzhong.

Summary
- Ehe Shaoge (饿何烧戈, Nga Hà Thiêu Qua) is a fictional composite character created in Luo Guanzhong’s Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The historical sources do not establish a single person under the combined name 饿何烧戈.
Historical Status
- Ehe Shaoge (饿何烧戈, Nga Hà Thiêu Qua) combines two separate historical Qiang leaders, E He (饿何, Nga Hà) and Shao Ge (烧戈, Thiêu Qua), who are recorded separately in the historical sources.
