Role in Water Margin
“Born with a wild and fierce nature, his skin marked by the stars of destiny, Hao Siwen stands as a pillar of martial prowess among the brothers of Liangshan.”
Hao Siwen first appears when he joins Guan Sheng (关胜, Quan Thắng) to lead an expedition to suppress the Liangshan rebels. After being captured by the Liangshan forces and persuaded by Song Jiang (宋江, Tống Giang) of their cause, he defects and pledges his loyalty to the righteous gathering. Throughout the various military campaigns authorized by the imperial court, Hao Siwen acts as a vanguard commander. He plays a vital role in the campaigns against the Liao Dynasty (辽朝, Liêu triều), and later the insurgent forces of Tian Hu (田虎, Điền Hổ) and Wang Qing (王庆, Vương Khánh).
