Biography & Historical Record
Yang Yue (杨岳, Dương Nhạc) was a loyal officer and court attendant of the Cao Wei Dynasty. He was the son of the legendary Liangzhou loyalist minister Yang Fu (杨阜, Dương Phụ — Minister of Justice, famed for leading the gentry revolt against Ma Chao at Jicheng in 213 AD).
Inheriting his father’s fierce rectitude and martial heritage from Liangzhou, Yang Yue entered imperial service under Emperor Wen (Cao Pi) and Emperor Ming (Cao Rui). He was appointed Gentleman of the Yellow Gate (Huangmen Shilang / 黄门侍郎), serving as a trusted personal advisor and intermediary between the inner palace and the state ministries. When Yang Fu repeatedly submitted fearless memorials reprimanding Cao Rui for lavish palace construction and neglecting state defense, Yang Yue steadfastly supported his father at court, earning great respect for upholding uncompromised family ethics.
