Zhu Wu (朱武, Chu Vũ) is a prominent fictional character in the classic Chinese novel Water Margin (Shui Hu Zhuan). Known by his moniker ‘Divine Machine Strategist’ (Shenji Junshi), he is ranked 37th among the 108 Stars of Destiny, occupying the position of the Earth Aggression Star. Hailing from Dingyuan, he is a master of military strategy, formations, and command. Before joining the Liangshan band, he was a chieftain at Mount Shaohua, where he led alongside Chen Da (陈达, Trần Đạt) and Yang Chun (杨春, Dương Xuân). His tactical intellect allowed the trio to maintain their independence until they encountered Shi Jin (史进, Sử Tiến), eventually leading them to join the Liangshan rebels.

As a military strategist, Zhu Wu’s role in the 108 heroes mirrors the position of Zhuge Liang (诸葛亮, Gia Cát Lượng) within the context of the Liangshan hierarchy. He is defined by his ability to construct complex military formations, which proved vital during the campaigns against the Liao Dynasty and the rebel forces of Fang La (方腊, Phương Lạp). Unlike many of the martial-focused outlaws, Zhu Wu represents the intellectual core of the band, often providing the calm, analytical voice needed to navigate the group’s transition into government service.

Following the death of Chao Gai (晁盖, Tiều Cái), Zhu Wu and his brothers from Mount Shaohua formally join the Liangshan Marsh, bringing their expertise to the main rebel faction.
