Biography & Historical Record
Yang Xin was a military general serving the states of Cao Wei and later Western Jin. He is primarily recorded in the Book of Jin. During the twilight of the Three Kingdoms period, he served under the command of Deng Ai. He participated in the conquest of Shu Han in 263. Following the transition to the Jin Dynasty, he was stationed at Liang Province. In 270, during the rebellion of the Xianbei chieftain Tufa Shujineng, Yang Xin was sent to suppress the uprising. However, due to his arrogance and poor strategic judgment in dealing with the local tribes, he was defeated and killed in battle by the forces of Shujineng.

In the narrative of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Yang Xin appears briefly as a subordinate officer under Deng Ai during the campaign to invade Shu.
